I will be in Geneva.
Lindsay inspired me to create this blog to track my adventures in Europe from July 2nd-25th. We will be centered in Geneva, Switzerland for a study abroad program focused on "Global Issues, Disarmament Diplomacy and Humanitarian Action." Meetings with the Small Arms Survey, the ICRC, and observing negotiations at the UN are just a few things to come this month.
Weekends and evenings will be spent exploring Geneva along with France and Italy. Getting our train passes has been the biggest nightmare so one can only hope that they are worth it and we will actually use them!
My entire month of June (except for my excursion to Tennesee) has been focused on this trip. It began with the book, the readings, and outside research, then the exam. Next came all of the logistics, the countless hours on the internet planning weekend trips, the errands, the shopping, the packing, the getting kicked out of my apartment, the being homeless for four days, and the ANXIOUSNESS. Now I've been spending hours in info commons in the library googling things to bide my time.
Thanks to Lindsay and Erin for keeping me sane and keeping track of everything that I'm not. Also thanks to Lindsay for putting me up for 3 nights since housing cut me off!!
I'm hoping that I haven't packed too much so France Air won't charge me for extra poundage...ha ha ha I'm only kidding myself...My suitcase is large enough to fit a 10 year old child inside and you can bet I've filled it. You'd think I learned from my week spent as a hippiee at Bonnaroo that I don't need as much as I think I do. Can't teach an old dog new tricks.
Speaking of Bonnaroo, I might as well go back in time and speak of what an amazing time that was. Yes, little miss "Prissy Puss" (as I
was described as at work) spent three nights in a tent at a music festival and actually enjoyed it. AND I didn't even over pack or complain (until Sunday when my skin was melting off). Performances by M.I.A, Stephen Marley, Jack Johnson, and Adele were my top picks. Kanye's late appearance was also a highlight as thousands of his fans left the venue booing him ha ha ha. Advice for next year...don't nap during Pearl Jam, don't put sweaty towels in the cooler and then drink the water, and buy grilled cheeses one at time because if you buy 2 or more, they add a dollar to the total? Yea, I still don't get it.
